Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act

Requires employers to provide up to 2 weeks (80 hours) of paid sick leave to an eligible full-time employee and average hours worked over a 2 week period for part time employees – up to maximum of $511 per day ($5,110 in aggregate) if the employee is directly affected (categories 1-3 below), or 2/3 of regular pay up to maximum of $200 per day ($2,000 in aggregate) if the leave is to care for a quarantined or sick relative or child out of school/daycare that is closed (categories 4-5 below).

Eligible employees include: (1) employees who are subject to a quarantine or isolation order related to COVID-19; (2) employees who have been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine due to concerns related to COVID-19; (3) employees who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and seeking a medical diagnosis; (4) employees who are caring for an individual who is subject to a quarantine or isolation order; and (5) employees who are caring for a son or daughter if their school or day care closes, or the child care provider of such son or daughter is unavailable, due to COVID-19 precautions.

May not require employees to exhaust other paid sick leave before using leave under the Act, but the employee may elect to do so.

This may not apply to certain health care providers and emergency responders.
