Commercial Litigation
HKW has experienced litigators that have worked in federal and state courts across the county. HKW regularly goes toe to toe with some of the largest law firms in the country on complex commercial litigation, breach of contract disputes, securities litigation, trade secrets litigation and wrongful death and serious personal injury litigation.
HKW’s civil litigation team has considerable trial experience, and its practice group leader, Doug Kertscher, has served as lead counsel in over thirty (30) trials. However, we are mindful that in many instances our client wants to move through the litigation as quickly and as cost effectively as possible, and we take advantage of the little used Georgia law and Superior Court rules that allow cases to be stipulated quickly to trial calendars, and the result is that we get cases to the finish line faster.
A big part of this philosophy is that we are selective in which cases we take on so that we can devote more time and resources to fewer cases. This means a faster, more cost efficient result for the client. It also means better client service: we believe that simple things like returning telephone calls promptly, keeping the client informed with regular updates, and setting (and keeping) reasonable progress goals for the litigation.
